How to find an American Airlines receipt for tickets and fees
Use American Airlines’ Your receipts page for tickets and fees. Have the 13-digit ticket number and passenger’s last name ready; a booking reference is not the same field.
Find your ticket receipt
- Find the ticket number in your purchase documents. Start with the confirmation email and look for the field labelled ticket number.
- Open the airline’s receipt page and enter the ticket number and passenger name as requested.
- Check the returned details and save or print the receipt.
American’s customer-service FAQ documents the number-and-name lookup and says it covers most tickets booked within the past nine months. Follow the current form if its available range differs. American Airlines: receipt FAQ.
Onboard purchases have a separate route
The airline’s receipts and refunds directory separates ticket and fee requests from onboard purchase receipts. Choose the route matching the charge instead of trying every expense against your ticket number.
For the onboard lookup, the FAQ asks you to check the purchase date, card’s last four digits and last name, and notes transactions can take 72 hours or more to appear. American Airlines: missing onboard receipts.
If the receipt does not appear
Check the ticket number digit by digit and confirm which passenger the document belongs to. If you booked through a travel agency or work travel portal, check its invoice and email records too. Keep any agency service fee separate from the airline charge when matching documents.
For an older purchase or a lookup that still fails, contact the airline through the support links in its receipt directory. Have the ticket number, passenger name and purchase date ready. The email receipt finder may help locate the original confirmation first.
Before submitting an expense record
Check which costs the document includes. Keep separate receipts for charges absent from the ticket receipt, and attach any later refund record. Ask your employer which documents it requires if you only have an itinerary or boarding pass.
